Pacific Gophersnake

Pituophis catenifer catenifer

The Pacific gopher snake is one of eight subspecies of gopher snake. The Pacific Gopher snake grows as long as 7 feet and weighs between 2 and 4 pounds. Pacific Gopher snakes with longitudinal stripes with or without blotches are occasionally found in central and west-central California, often in Solano, Yolo, and Napa Counties. Gophers in the vineyard are Pacific gopher snake's primary prey.
