Florae

The florae that are found in the natural environment of SVR are varied and rich; annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees.

Fungi

Fungi are a kingdom of multicellular organisms that cannot make their own food and thus play an important role in nutrient cycling in the SVR ecosystem; vineyard, orchard, and native open spaces.

Lichen

1. Foliose: flat leaf-like. 2. Crustose: crust-like. 3. Fruticose: shrub-like. 4. Squamulose: scaly.

Liverwort

Liverworts have a combined structure called a thallus that branches creating flattened lobes. The stalks that hold the spore capsule are much shorter and stouter than those of the mosses.

Moss

Mosses typically form dense green clumps or mats which are located in the hills, fields, and creeks growing on geology and flora. California is home to one of the most species rich moss floras in North America.
